Why is Hugh Chauvin Running for Congress from District Six
Congress has a 13% approval rating and has basically been stalled for a decade. I want to represent the 6th District to provide responsible leadership in the U.S. Congress instead of the current stalemate between Republicans and Democrats.
As you know, the 6th Congressional District is being re-districted. It included parts of Tarrant County and all of Navaro and Ellis Counties. The current representative has been in Congress for 27 years and has been associated with the energy committee most of that time.
During those 27 years, we have had little direction from this committee or the Department of Energy to provide stability and security in the energy sector. There is no excuse for the United States, which can be energy independent, to be held hostage using oil as a weapon. The current committee, the Department of Energy and the Administration seem to be unaware that fossil fuels, despite their own wishes, will be a major player in the supply of energy in the United States for the next 100 years.
While alternative energy, such as wind and solar are both necessary and desirable, there needs to be more balance with the reality of the technology for alternative energy sources, since 80% of our current energy is derived from fossil fuel, 18% from nuclear power and only 2% from wind and solar.
I have over 30 years construction and maintenance management experience in the energy industry including 22 years in six different foreign countries. I have successfully managed major energy related projects overseas and in the United States. I understand what it will take for our country to be both energy efficient and energy independent.
As a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from District 6, I'm asking you to join me in 2012 and make a difference by voting for Libertarian Party candidates and break the cycle and bring confidence and leadership back to Washington, D.C.
